Gold was discovered on the Cherokee land in Georgia, which lead to conflict between the US and the Cherokee.

The most famous story of who found the first gold nugget was Frank Logan, discovering it in 1828 in White County*.
By 1829, floods of people came to Georgia to try to strike gold; they started mining in White County.
Later that year, they moved onto mining on Cherokee land.
Gold mining was booming with success; about 300 ounces a day of gold was found in the year 1830.
*White County is located right next to the Cherokee's land
